Long closed - but not forgotten, the 1500v DC route from Manchester to
Sheffield was visited by Colin & Iain Frew in September and October 1978 and
again in February 1981.

86259 returned to mainline active duty on 1 March 2008 with a railtour to
Liverpool from Birmingham. A few days later, locomotive owner Les Ross
gave permission for these photos to be taken by Colin Frew.
